The elderly

Bible references
– Psalm 71:9
Do not cast me off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength is spent.

– Proverbs 20:29
The glory of young men is their strength, but the splendor of old men is their gray hair.

– Isaiah 46:4
Even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.

– 1 Timothy 5:1-2
Do not rebuke an older man but encourage him as you would a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, in all purity.

– Titus 2:2-3
Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good.

My God,

You are the sovereign and compassionate God who cares for the elderly with great tenderness and love. You have promised to uphold and guide them through their later years, and I pray that You would grant them the strength and grace to face the challenges that come with aging. May they be filled with the peace that surpasses all understanding and find comfort in Your presence.

I ask that You would surround the elderly with loving and supportive companions who will walk alongside them in their journey. Help them to find joy and fulfillment in each day, and may their lives be a testament to Your faithfulness and goodness. Grant them wisdom and discernment as they navigate the changes and uncertainties that come with growing older.

Lord, I pray for their physical and emotional well-being, that they may be kept safe from harm and illness. I ask that You would provide for their every need and that they would experience Your provision in abundance. May they continue to find purpose and significance in their lives, knowing that they are valued and cherished in Your sight.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
